My Marvin by capsicum My Marvin by capsicum
After seeing the Hitchhiker's movie and being disatisfied with their interpretation of Marvin, I decided to draw my version. This is how I always imagined him looking while reading the books. I pictured him trudging around the space ship in his ever-depressed state.

I wonder how different everyone's Marvin's are? :3

Oh, I like your version soooooo much better! Reading the book, you imagine a sleeker, more mobile robot... Marvin is so round in the film. •_______•'

I think I like this marvin way better than the movie one. Though when i first read the book i imagined him like a tall skinny version of 3po.

THANK YOU
Have you ever seen the original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie? From the 80s? It actually went into when they go to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

The new movie SUCKED. Marvin was never meant to be a cute, big-headed round white... THING anyhow! D:<
This version looks identical to the 80s version. <3 It makes me so happy to see.
;3; Thank you.

I saw the film before I read the books, and I agree that Film-Marvin was a bit too modern and clinical. Anyway, your Marvin is really cute, in his own depressed way. I love his shoulders, all hunched up....they really make him look all sad. Marvin  "Here I am, Brain size of a planet...." :D

Simply wonderful - and, indeed, a better design than the one from the film. The one from the TV series is cool too, but not as cute as this Marvin :)

Marvin's my second favourite character from the books, after Ford Prefect (I wasn't impressed with the film's Prefect, but he's a hard character to do well :p) - and you've magaed to capture the depression perfectly. I love how far apart his eyes are :D

I don't know who my favourite character is. Marvin's written really well but I don't know if he's my favourite.

Hello~ Randomly stopping by after looking at all your cute FF chibis. XD

Marvin looks adorable here. I refuse to see the movie (love the books far too much), but. ^^; I pictured Marvin as more android/humanish... Dunno. It's funny how people picture the same character completely differently even when the words are the same. X3

Keep up the awesome artwork!

Yeah, it's funny but really cool, too. It makes me wonder how people would see other characters from this and other books. There's an infinite number of visual representations for one character. That in itself, is cool. What's also funny is how people pronounce names. I always pronounced Zaphod like Za as in zap but most people seem to say 'zayphod'. He's just not Zayphod to me. It totally changes his character. And in another book, there was a character named Tryfan. The book told you it was pronounced "Triffan" and that's how I read it, but my friend read it the way it was spelt - Try Fan. And that's how he'll always be to her, and to me he'll always be Triffan. Anyway, sorry for rambling. It's nearly 3am and I must be tired. :P

"Brain the size of a galaxy, and I'm sent to open doors..."

I'm not gonna say whether or not this is a good interpretation, because everyone has their own, you know? But he's certainly... 'Marvinesque'.

my marvin strongly resembled this, I always pictured him as sort of a boxish character, not as round as the one in the movie. Either way this picture is awesome. He's so cute! What a cute little depressed robot! (wow, that sounded funny) anyways, great job!

Mine is kinda similar to yours. Man, I'm scared at the sole thought of that movie, I'm lucky it hasn't come to Italy yet... another good fandom that will soon be invaded by fanpoodles.

My Marvin's skinny and looks like he'd fall over if you pushed him too hard. I couldn't imagine him all big and clunky. He was always sharp and pointy in my head. I like his expression here, though. I thought the movie version was too big, and too cute.

[link] - "Marvin Loves You" (< Note the Sarcasm)

He's the best character in those books, by far! I lub Marvin.

Zaphod was my favourite character then Marvin but only because he was so well written. I mean, I didn't raelly *like* him as a personality but his character came across so strongly that you sort of had to love him. If that makes any sense. :o

I think that the only person who could truly approve a marvin would have been douglas adams, but everyone is free to their won interpretations^^ That's what I love about books. You create on your mind how YOU think they should look ^_^

I personally saw the movie just as I started the book, so it's hard for me to visualize him otherwise. And I also liked his movie form..it was cute X3

Yours is great though. He's still got that whole look of having a world of burden on his shoulders. He's fantastic^^

That's what I love about books, too. I always make the characters look how I want them to and ignore blatant things like "He has red hair." and imagine blonde or something. XD Also, when I read the books, for some reason, I pictured Ford with blue skin. o.O Where that came from, I'm not sure.

Fwee! Teh Marv! XD I like it.

Hmm, I kinda pictured Marvin like he was in the movie, except not white, and taller, but still with a head too big for his body. And some antennae. Almost no robot is complete without antennae. e_e

I'll be honest, I like the movie version. It makes kinda sense as the ship is new, the robot would look kinda new and space age. Spheres = Futuristic.
